Alone with the world

Picture
Melting butter shines from top of mountain.
Water ripples – 1000 miniature waves;
Marching ants in unison.
Just one left behind.
One goose cries out to the skein, ready to unite?
Snow topped highlands blend to clouds
Wind rushes into waves
Sun runs like waterfall from hillside to water
Peaks in the clouds that they forgot to colour in.
Puffs of white stacked on mountain

The best and worst of life: To sit alone
Don’t think.
Just be.

Shhh

Lips pressed against ears

Poison,

Slipping sweetly between sugar coated smiles

Telling us

Harmless

Leak each other lies

He said

She said,

S-s-s-s-slithering

Won’t always hurt them?

Just a hint of truth then

Soften the taste

Never gonna graze us.

Or kill.

Then sting

Comes around

Loose the ones you love the most

And by the time you’ve cottoned on

Your slipping it in someone else’s drink.

Poison.

Masquerade

Masquerade

I scare myself with how convincing I've become:

My smile can hide reality,

Two words have sent you off the trail,

I’ll be long gone and you won’t follow,

But as I run that lie echoes in my mind:

“I’m fine.”

Satin ribbons

Satin ribbons

I could have run another mile with you,
In those beautiful shoes that made my feet bleed,
But Maybe I didn't want to.
What else could I have given you anyway?
More of my time, more of my energy?
More of my Mother’s money?
Whatever. I’m happy now.
Like you’d care.

Do you think I’m jealous?
When I see the pretty girls twirl?
That could have been me: I just didn't want it.
I gave you the hours of my childhood;
Missing beach barbecues to sit in sticky red theaters with you,
And still I wasn't good enough.
What makes you think I’d waste my whole life on you?

But I’ll try those dusty shoes on one more time,
Just to see if my feet still bleed.
It’s not like I miss weaving those satin ribbons
Around my aching ankles.

I am a creative writing graduate living in Devon. I love writing either to express myself or to make people think.I write poems and prose poetry and I've recently started blogging. I'm happiest when I'm by the sea, getting on a plane or at McDonalds with my best friend. As well as writing I'm passionate about dance, friendship and above all Jesus. One of the things I'm most grateful for in life is my wonderful Godson. I want to see the world and when I do I will write about it the way I see it. Thank you for visiting my site. I hope you enjoyed it.
